Dr. Burns is a Clinical Instructor of Plastic Surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and is in private practice with a renowned group of plastic surgeons at The Dallas Plastic Surgery Institute. Dr. Burns was raised in Dallas and graduated from Highland Park High School. He is a graduate of Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee.
Dr. Burns completed his medical training at the University of Texas Medical Branch graduating summa cum laude from the research honors program. As one of the top students, he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honorary society. He stayed at the University of Texas Medical Branch where he completed a residency in Plastic Surgery. In addition, he completed training in micro-vascular surgery at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas and cosmetic surgery in Miami, Florida. Dr. Burns completed a fellowship in laser surgery at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. His leadership in the field is evidenced by the numerous peer reviewed articles and book chapters he has published on the subject of plastic and laser surgery.
